Small Company – Big Impact

PRK would like recognize our client Industrial Revolution, Inc. for their significant role in helping victims of the earthquake in Japan.  Their story has recently been told in the Seattle Times and on KOMO News Television. (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/restlessnative/2014684886_restless05m.html and http://redmond.komonews.com/news/business/redmond-companys-lanterns-helping-light-japan/632907).

All 15 employees of Industrial Revolution have been working to manufacture and ship massive quantities of the company’s Candle Lanterns, which provide emergency light and heat to victims suffering from rolling blackouts.

Industrial Revolution, Inc. was founded in Redmond, Washington as UCO Corporation in 1973. After a few years of making metal parts for K2, JanSport, and Boeing, the company introduced its Original Candle Lantern.  UCO quickly became the world leader in the production of Candle Lanterns and now has a family of products that are sold in about 30 countries around the world.

The Industrial Revolution team is made up of outdoor enthusiasts who love hiking, camping, biking, and boating.  The company specializes in designing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality, innovative products with a focus on outdoor recreation.  The company holds many patents for its products and has been featured in Fortune Magazine, The New York Times, and Consumer Reports.

Locally, Industrial Revolution has been recognized as an industry leader and has received many awards, including Outside’s 2009 Best Places to Work, Puget Sound Business Journal’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies, 2007-2008, and Washington CEO’s 100 Best Companies to Work For, 2008.

PRK has been serving Industrial Revolution as legal counsel since 2005 when Keith Jackson bought the company.  PRK has helped the company work through dozens of legal issues from international distribution agreements to intellectual property to ERISA law to litigation (the company has been sued twice, PRK helped keep both suits out of court).  Greg Russell has been advising Keith since 1997, and Keith describes Greg as “level-headed, extremely knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with.”  Other PRK attorneys including David Bowman and Mike Callan have also assisted Industrial Revolution with various matters.
